A New Home, Four Kids, and Room to Play | Austin Family Photographer
For this family, finding a new home wasn’t easy. They knew what they were looking for, but hadn’t found it yet. So they decided to sell their home in a subdivision in Austin before they had anywhere to go next and that takes a certain kind of courage and faith. They waited for the right one. Room. Space for four kids to run, climb, and just be kids. When they finally landed on this property outside Austin, it was exactly that.
Mom was excited about family pictures, sure, but more than that, she wanted a session that felt easy. Her and her husband were ready to let their kids just be themselves in the space they’d fought for. The kids felt it right away. Four of them, running full throttle in the best way. My job was simple: show up and capture a typical afternoon. That’s what I did.
The Front Porch
One of the mom’s favorite things about their new home was the columns and the beautiful glass front door. We wanted to be sure to get the whole family together in this exact spot. This is the house they prayed for and waited for, and here they are on its front step. They also got a puppy after moving in, and he is genuinely the sweetest. He fit right into the family chaos.

What the Kids Actually Do Here
This is where the session really came alive. Mom mentioned that one of her kids’ favorite things is running laps around the house, all four of them with their dog. When it happened, I just waited for them to come around the house. Watching all four kids and their dog tear around the yard together, with that much joy on their faces, was one of the best moments of the session.
The trampoline, the trees, the open yard, this is what they moved here for. I got to see them in action.

Your own backyard tells the truth in a way a park just can’t. The wreath on the front door. The trampoline that’s clearly loved. The trees with the low branches that were obviously discovered on day one.
This family dreamed of open spaces and the ability for their kids to roam free and get all their energy out. The uncertainty and the waiting for this home was so worth it! It was only fitting that I photographed their family enjoying this blessing.
This is why I’m always excited to do a home photo session. The things that feel too everyday to bother with? Those are exactly what you’ll want to remember.
